I always thought schools like WVU, Indiana Bloomington, Ole miss etc were considered good schools but I see them get berated on sites like college confidential, but on websites like college niche these schools were given rather good ratings. Do these high-acceptance schools look bad on my transcript?
Colleges with high acceptance rates do not automatically look bad on your transcript or resume; however, you'll need to excel while at these schools to stand out. As our article on high-acceptance rate colleges states, schools with high acceptance rates are good for some students because it means that you may be competing against less gifted students, and so you'll be able to shine. Conversely, if you attend one of these schools and don't stand out, you'll be worse off when compared to students with similar grades and profiles who attended more selective or prestigious schools.
