Can the CLEP test replace a bad AP score?

I’m worried that my child will do poorly on an upcoming AP test. Instead of waiting a whole year to retake the course, can they test out of the class by taking the CLEP test? Will they receive the same college credit?

CLEP credits are accepted by almost the same number of higher educational institutions as AP credits, despite the fact that CLEP is much less well-known. You'll just need to check with the specific schools where your child is applying to make sure they take CLEP credits (usually this information is either on the website or you can call the admissions office and ask directly). This article lists more of the differences between CLEP and AP if you're looking for additional details on how the two compare. Overall, it shouldn't be a problem to take CLEP instead.
