Graphic Organizers for ACT Writing?

Anyone have any good ideas for graphic organizers for the ACT essay?

The best way to organize the ACT essay is to use the standard 4-5 paragraph format. This should look something like:

  • Introduction
  • Body Paragraph 1 (with example and supporting detail)
  • Body Paragraph 2 (with example and supporting detail)
  • Body Paragraph 3 (optional)
  • Conclusion

A quick search on Google for "graphic organizers for essays" results in many great options. Of the ones I've seen, I think my personal favorites are probably the ones on this site (because they provide 3 different ways of visualizing your essay) and this site (because of its clarity).

If you want to create your own graphic organizer that's tailored to the ACT Writing Test, a good place to start would be our blog articles that take you through how to write the ACT essay, step by step and the best ACT essay format and template. Even if you do create your own graphic organizer, though, make sure to include space for an introduction, a conclusion, and for discussing each of the three perspectives the ACT gives you.
