I know the College Board is getting rid of sentence completion questions on the SAT, but I'm not sure exactly what that means for me. I don't have a great vocabulary, so I guess it's good news, but how will they test vocab now? Do I have to actually study definitions or is that a waste of time?
The new SAT will test vocabulary in context. This means that you'll be asked to identify the definitions of more common words based on how they're used in a passage. For this test format, it's not as productive to study super long lists of obscure words. Words that show up on the test will usually be ones you've seen before. You can prepare for these types of questions by studying this shorter list of ACT words and just by reading more in general.
