I recently got a copy of the old guide from a family member, and I am just realizing the major changes to the new SAT. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing, because I get easily paranoid. Can you study for the new SAT with the old blue book Official SAT Study Guide?
No. The change to the SAT format means that the practice tests in the old blue book are no longer an accurate representation of what an actual SAT would look like on test day.
We also recommend against buying The Official SAT Study Guide (March 2016 and beyond), because all of the material in the guide is available online for free. Instead, take advantage of the free practice tests that the College Board has released for the new SAT and the PrepScholar free guides to Reading, Writing, Math, and the new SAT essay.
